2016 is quickly coming towards an end as we move forward to 2017 which will certainly feature an intense line-up of blockbuster films. With that I'm going over my top 10 most anticipated movies of 2017 in a specific order to show which ones should definitely be on your radar for the upcoming year. There's a fair bit of hero films here and I want to say the list is really what I think will be the biggest general films people will go see.
The last chance for the DC cinematic universe in my eyes, after a stellar short performance in Batman v Superman the titular female character will get her origin in this upcoming film. The trailers seem to create an exciting World War film that has Wonderwoman carrying all of her traditional tools. I have high hopes for this one, but I also did for Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
I recall enjoying the first couple The Mummy films and with Tom Cruise as the main character this could be great. Not only in star power, but the fact that he's a charismatic lead could create an epic and entertaining series. I do hope they go a bit dark on this one while not refraining from great quips.
Kong is a story that's been told many times throughout the years and now with the grand effects we have, along with the goal to build-up a monster universe this has serious potential. It also carries a stellar cast that goes against the largest ape ever while also seemingly having a good laugh to go with it.
The LEGO Movie was absolutely incredible and while I was initially surprised by the existance of this one, it looks hilarious. Arnett actually voices a great Batman and with so many nods to making fun of past Batman films this could be the best DC property to release next year, woah.
After Deadpool we're finally getting a full R rated Wolverine movie in one of the character's most iconic story lines. Logan is old now, he's not healing well and most mutants are dead. It seems to be an intimate story to finish off Jackman's iconic take on the character while also telling an emotional film. Even just off the trailer I feel as though this could be an Oscar performance as I've never seen a hero film really take this route before.
While opinions on the Thor series will vary, this is much more than just a Thor film. This sets up a huge part of the old guard's last Marvel phase while three huge characters. Included will be Thor teaming up with Loki and Doctor Strange to find Odin while Marvel also fits in a Planet Hulk story. I have no idea how they're going to pull this off, but the MCU is just magic these days so I have high hopes.
Kingsman was a complete and pleasant surprise heading back to old day spy roots while also bringing a nice bit of comedy and action into it. It featured many unique villains, great protagonists and a winding story that kept things fresh throughout. It seems as though there's a lot of expansion in this sequel, but I hope they can have just as great of an adventure,
Spiderman is my favorite super hero and with multiple attempts at bringing the wallcrawler to the big screen I feel there's finally a perfect balance with this new take. It's also a younger Spiderman so we'll actually get to see his high school life along with the many challenges of growing up as a hero in a world filled with magical people.
I would have never taken Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love" to be a serious trailer track, but there it was with the first look at Guardians 2. The first movie was a massive hit and easily one of my favorite films. It brought a stellar soundtrack, moments of hilarity and made us absolutely love a tree.
I'm a huge Star Wars fan and while I didn't want to place this so high I am really intrigued by whether they can pull off the success that Episode VII generated. It'll also be really interesting to see where the story is taken after how conclusive certain elements of the last film were. It's also shocking how quick another film in the franchise is being released considering the many quiet years we had.
