#10: Ozark (Season 1)

Ozark is a fresh series this year that follows a family that has to move far away from their regular life after it's discovered that a partner has been skimming money off the top. This top belongs to a cartel and Marty (Jason Bateman) has to reach an incredibly intense money laundering goal in order to keep his family alive.

#9: The Defenders (Season 1)

Netflix's mightiest Marvel heroes come together for an alright grouping series. It's somewhat slow to get going, but is a nice finish to what each character had been building towards across their first seasons. This grouping includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist with many of their close friends showing up as well.

#8: Santa Clarita Diet (Season 1)

This was one of the biggest surprises for shows this year, everyone I've mentioned it to has loved it and it's fun. Drew Barrymore becomes a zombie and the show follows her, along with her family going around dealing with this issue. Some folks get eaten along the way and it's very gore filled. It does randomly end though which was odd.

Netflix Original The Defenders

#7: The Punisher (Season 1)

While this isn't Frank Castle's first appearance, it is his first solo series as he leaves the Daredevil team up behind. This is a rather intense, yet slow to build show. It's probably the most non-Marvel like show I've ever seen and that's fine as it works well within the universe as well as presenting the character perfectly.

#6: Mystery Science Theater 3000 (The Return)

If you like making fun of terrible films that make little to no sense then the Mystery Science Theater 3000 is perfect for you. This revival series brings some fresh faces as it gets ready for the next generation of experiments where a man must watch horrible movies while laughing away at them. It's a lot of fun, Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt are excellent here.

#5: Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later

I've always really enjoyed this wacky series that had so many big comedic actors when they were young and this is a nice finale to that. It continues the last Netflix series that took place after the movie and this one finishes it all off in a great way. There are so many fun cameos and it's just funny.

Netflix Original Stranger Things 2

#4: American Vandal (Season 1)

I didn't have any idea what this was going to be going into it, but it's hilarious. They play it straight, but it's this documentary type comedy where they're trying find out who drew dicks on cars. The way it's done like some crazy conspiracy is just amazing, big surprise for sure.

#3: BoJack Horseman (Season 4)

Another great year of BoJack Horseman, things are changing and this season aims to dive into the background of the character as everything is rather gloomy. There's also the possibility of a daughter and an interesting turn of events there.

#2: A Series of Unfortunate Events (Season 1)

If you like the books, you will absolutely love this series. It captures the whole tale in such a whimsical way and its prefect. The design of the world emulates the imagination and the characters are exact to what you'd imagine from reading the series. It's also just generally a great series.

#1: Stranger Things 2 (Season 2)

I just got into Stranger Things this year after assuming it was a good idea to cover the second season due to its popularity and wow. This is one great series with fantastic acting, a creepy setting and an intriguing narrative. If you haven't jumped into this series you're seriously missing out on one of the most interesting shows ever. It brings that horror while never holding back and the cast really helps to round it all out.
